Aurawan Research Centre (ARC) is field experiment station occupying an area of about
65 acres, belonging to usar (ALKALINE) soils. Development and economic utilization
of these problem soils with focus on development of package and practices for organic
cultivation and conservation of medicinal and other economic plants in different
cropping systems, are centre's main concerns.
Objectives
To undertake the development of agro technology for profitable production of medicinal,
aromatic and other economic plants in different cropping systems on marginal soils,
adopting principles of organic farming, including their collection, conservation
and propagation.
Achievements
The group has developed agro-technology for several important medicinal, aromatic
and other economic plants viz, Abelmoschus moschatus, Acorus calamus, Andrographis
paniculata, Asparagus racemosus, Ammi majus, Amaranthus hypochondriacus, Chlorophytum
sp., Curcuma sp., Cymbopogan sp., Desmodium gangeticum, Hemidesmus indicus, Mucuna
pruriens, Psorelia corylifoloa, Pueraria tuberosa, Uraria picta and Vetiver.
High quality, genuine planting material of medicinal plants is made available by
the centre along with technical details for their organic cultivation.

Publications
The group has published more than 30 research papers and can offer consultancy services
in the areas of conservation, propagation, organic cultivation, processing of medicinal
plants, development of herb gardens, including training in the related areas.
