CSIR-NBRI S&T KNOWLEDGE RESOURCE CENTRE (LIBRARY)
The library at CSIR-NBRI was established by Prof. K N Kaul, the founder Director
of the Institute, on April 13, 1953, with a small collection of publications. In
keeping with the vision and mission of the Institute, the library has been
continuouly developed to serve as a centre for knowledge resources. The library,
therefore, acts as the main knowledge resource centre of the Institute and
provides services and facilities to meet the S & T knowledge requirements of the
Institute’s R & D activities. The library operates with the following
objectives:
• To support the learning process of the research students through provision of
knowledge/information.
• To meet knowledge/information needs of the scientists and research students to
support their research activities.
• To respond effectively, where possible, to the knowledge/information needs of
the Institute’s client systems.
The library is centrally located in the KN KAUL Block of the Institute. It is
spread over three floors. The entrance of the library is from the first
floor. It has reading areas on all the floors. Library remains open from 9:30 AM
to 6:00 PM on all working days. The Library is fully automated with Libsys
software. It provides fully automated circulation services to the users
throughout working hours of the institute. Check out; check in, reservation of
documents, overdue notices, enrolment of membership, no dues etc. are done in
minimum possible time.CSIR-NBRI library holds following collections:

VII. ISI WEB OF KNOWLEDGE
A Botanical
Archive, was inaugurated by Dr. PV Sane, the then Director of NBRI, on August
16, 1991. It is housed on the ground floor of the library. It contains rare and
hand-written manuscripts in Persian and Arabic, illustrations of plants dating
back to 18th century, besides a host of other botanical literature of original
value. Inter Library Loan is the service in which books and journals are made
available to the users of NBRI which are not available in CSIR-NBRI Library. The
users may give an application to In-charge; Library to get the books borrowed
from the libraries of Lucknow based research laboratories. Inter Library Loan
facility is provided to share the resources of libraries, for their maximum
use.CSIR-NBRI Library provides Document Delivery Services by sending documents
through online / by posts against Document Delivery Requests (DDR) received from
various laboratories of CSIR and DST through JCCC-CSIR database.
